Hyaluronic Acid is a polymer made of repeating units of glucuronic acid and N-acetylglucosamine. The glucuronic acid and N-acetylglucosamine within Hyaluronic Acid are connected through Beta 1-3 and Beta 1-4 linkages. Hyaluronic Acid is naturally found in the deeper layers of our skin known as the dermis. Levels of hyaluronic acid have been found to be lower than normal in people suffering from dry eye syndrome and there is justification in the use of this supplement for this concern as well as helping to alleviate vaginal dryness.
This supplement contains sodium hyaluronate, the active form of hyaluronic acid, which has a smaller particle size making it especially more penetrative. Due to its high visco-elasticity and lubricity, sodium hyaluronate has been used to treat inflammatory joint concerns as well as used topically in anti-ageing creams.
